It is obvious that asking questions is crucial in many fields of work. However, it's equally important for workplace training.
Trainers employ questioning tactics as one of their training methodologies for a variety of reasons. Questions can be used to encourage participation, assess knowledge, ascertain level of understanding, elicit feedback, promote critical and creative thinking, review material, or open up minds to new ideas.
The method used is based on the participants' level, the topic, and the desired learning results.
Here is the APPLE way of questioning that trainers might use to get learners to discuss certain topic. APPLE is the acronym for:
[A] asking the question,
[P] pausing to allow the participants to comprehend the question and think of an answer,
[P] picking a member to provide an answer,
[L] listening to the answer provided, and
[E] expounding or elaborating more on the answers given.
In summary, one of the most crucial aspects of training is questioning. Effective communication between the trainer and students in a learning environment depends on the trainer's ability to ask good questions. Questioning skillfully entails knowing when to ask questions, how to frame them, and who to ask them of.
